Beautiful women from all over Houston gathered at the Ensemble Theatre on Monday, January 26th for an evening of empowerment, natural hair conversation and knowledge exchange.
The ‘Natural You’ Mixer, sponsored by Uncle Funky's Daughter and Tendrils and Curls, kicked off with the gorgeous and inspirational Jonita Buck, the author of ‘Change Your Language, Change Your Life’, who moved every living thing in the room with her story. Everything about this woman screams BEAUTY!!!! She speaks positivity into herself daily, (One thing every lady I interviewed during the event said they were going to emulate. Count me in too ladies!!!!).
The talented Autmn Blanchard of ‘Lady Ayri Salon’ showed guests how to achieve the perfect twist-out while using UncleFunky's Daughter’s Supercurl Miracle Moisture Crème. I have to say the results were amazing! Also, a huge congratulations to (@luxeladii_me) for choosing to Big Chop at our event!!!! Welcome Sister!!!!
During intermission guests enjoyed shopping, photos and an assortment of lite bites provided by Sharon Alfred's Catering. The evening closed with a panel discussions featuring Uncle Funky's Daughter President, Renee Morris, Dr. Paula Chrishon of Tendrils and Curls, the fashionable Mimi aka @officialcorporatechic, hair model and blogger Ashley Odom and author Jonita Buck. They spoke truth, sprinkled with love and dished out the realities of entrepreneurship, natural haircare and trends in the natural hair community.
Of course we didn’t want the evening to end! Just before we said our goodbyes, Rocko Stedy Narvois closed the evening with a powerful poem he wrote specially for women embracing their Natural Beauty.
He reminded each and every one under his voice that ‘Together we can Inspire Each Other’.
